as a followup, my brother called up samsung (Tablet is my mothers) Samsung Auckland repair Not interested and not willing to repair it under warrenty (just a few month out of warrenty period)

So let this be warning to avoid Samsung tablets, you would expect an $850 high end Samsung tablet to have better support and backup than this. A complete an utter joke!! next tablet will not be a Samsung and neither will any new TV.

I think a CGA claim here as it's just out of warranty..

When you did the reset, did it go back to the original firmware or stay on Marshmellow 6.01

NZ law overides Samsungs warranty limits .

Ring them back, quote the CGA . Remind them its also an offense to mislead customers over rights & obligations under the CGA (Consumer Guarentees Act)
Under the CGA you can just take it back to the shop you bought it from (assuming it was bought in NZ)

Also, ringing an Authorised Samsung Service Centre wont help. They wont be obliged to do anything . You need to contact the retailer or Samsung NZ .
The repair centres are possibly 3rd party contractors , who do work on behalf of Samsung .

It was taken back to the store it was brought from . They just said out of warrenty and passed on the info to contact samsung as to if they would consider it a warrenty repair.

If it was mine, I would download a copy of the original firmware.
Write it to a SD card and boot the tablet from it.
You've got nothing to loose by trying.

Dont be so sure. Have you tried changing the channel on the router ?

Most routers are set to Auto for the Wireless, and sometimes if overlapping signals occur it can make some devices not see the wireless. Try changing the wireless to channels 1,6 or 11 these are non overlapping.

Had a customer last year, both her Laptop and tablet wouldn't see her own wireless, but could see the neighbors. Changed the channel to 11 and all of a sudden, not only did her own wireless show up strong so did several others in the area that weren't there previously.

While the tablet may be faulty , it pays to check everything, other wise you will be charged if they find out there's nothing wrong with it.

Youve been had. Its that simple .
The retailer knows better & are just trying it on .

CGA : You dont have to deal with Samsung. You take it back to the retailer & they sort it out . NZ CGA LAW
The goods have to last for a reasonable time . Not sure what your 'warranty' was but no way would (say) 1 or 2 years be reasonable for a $800 device

Retailers & importers will do everything to avoid their legal obligations under the CGA legislation
You will have to fight tooth & nail. Remind them thats its an offence to try & mislead your regarding your CGA rights
A threat of going to the Disputes Tribunal may get things moving along for you .

Plenty of info if you google "Consumer Guarantees Act" .

Just how old is it & how long was the Warranty period ? And as above, no warranty if the Tablet isnt actually faulty & its some other issue

"Even if the warranty has expired, the manufacturer will still be responsible if the products are faulty and not of acceptable quality for products of that type."
