    Default Skinny Mobile vs Spark

Thinking of changing my mobile plan. I'm currently with Spark, but Skinny have a plan that looks like it would suit better than anything Spark are currently offering (I'm looking at the Skinny $16 combo that has roll over minutes and data). My mobile data needs and the number of calls I make each month is never huge, but my usage varies a lot, so the roll over thing would be awesome.

The only thing I'm worried about is whether Skinny are a good reliable provider? I've not really heard anything either way. I gather they use the Spark network so coverage should be just as good, it's just whether they provide a good and reliable service, and are helpful if there are problems that I'd like to know more about.

Anyone have any good or not-so-good experiences with Skinny? Thanks, as always!

Son & family use it. Quite happy with it. Son has iphone and I gee him up by saying that the "Skinny v Spark" argument is a bit like the "Android v iphone". You know what I mean, paying more for something doesn't necessarily mean greater benefits!!

I switched from 2degrees to Skinny and am on the $16 pack. Definitely better, the spark network also has far better coverage than 2degrees.

I'm on the Skinny $16 pack; I've had no problems with the network.

No problems with the service. Helpdesk was even helpful when I needed them.

Only issue is minor. Apple app for skinny does not work to enable me to top up - it crashes when I try. Have to do this using a browser.

We have all changed to Skinny from 2Deg and Vodafone. Very reliable and good coverage (spark network). I have the $16 combo, rollover NZ/Aus minutes & Data. Free calls to any other Skinny. Skinny is compatible with any Telecom/Spark phone. As for Top Ups, I use Auto top up. I found that the 2Deg signal was weak on the North Shore, and the equivalent Combo is $19 pm.

Choosing between skinny & spark is like deciding which is the clean end of a turd.

    Its pretty hard to choose.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Sounds like those who are with Skinny or know those who are have had good experiences, so I think I will go for it and change to them, and pay for Spotify premium separately. I'm not going to be wasting money on what I don't use anymore, or having to add stupid extras on months I'm away from home more than usual.

If my data/minutes needs increase and become more consistent then the $29 prepay plan with Spotify premium on Spark will become the best plan for me.

I looked into 2Degrees but Skinny can top their best deal (in terms of what suits me, that is), and I appreciate the better coverage on the Spark network.

pctek - thanks for the link. Interesting - I knew that Skinny had something to do with Spark but I thought it was just that they used the same network. Learn something everyday!

    Cheers guys.
