Default Is there a way to set Task Scheduler to switch my win7 system to sleep mode

    Hi,
Recently, sleep mode was recommended on PCWorld as a way of saving electricity charges.
Is there a way to set a schedule task for this purpose, making a switch to sleep mode at mid-night' for example, a routine?

Im pretty sure some mobos offer a power on and off function in the bios which at the time you set turns it on then off.

It may still work as a command in task scheduler. Thats if you can give it a time..

Why don't you just sleep it when you leave it at night? Or set it to go into sleep mode after a certain time?

Theres an article HERE ( scroll down the page a bit) then Post #1 on how to do it, simple really, never tried it, as often sleep mode can cause more problems than it saves.

Edited: Another one HERE Post #2 - much the same thing but running a bat file this time from Task Scheduler

Try Steve Gibson's WIZMO. I use "wizmo standby" from a shortcut all the time. I'm sure it could be scheduled.

    I use PsShutdown http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb897541.aspx
Just set task scheduler to run psshutdown -d at whatever trigger you want.
