Office 10

I have just installed Office 10 on my Vista computer and when I try to use Word Excel or any other program on office I get this message pop up.

C:\Program Files \Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD.EXE
With Excel SAME................................ \Excel.EXE

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the SET Associations Control panel.

I've been into Control Panel ( Set Associations) and I'm lost " I'm not a computer wizz!!!"

Any help would be great.

Do any programs (besides office programs) run if you double click on them?? If they dont it sounds like something is borked somewhere. What version of windows is installed? Was a previous version of office installed??

Reinstall office 2010.

Vista, office 2003, that I have removed. Office 03 work great!!

For some reason it looks like the file associations are screwed up, try resetting them - Described how here

Have you actually set them correctly.

Simple way to tell, right click a word document, open with, select MS Word - should open.

Tried right click on word doc to open with ms word, didn't open and still came up with same error message. might forget about MS office 10 !!

Uninstall it. Disable UAC, then reinstall it.

Thanks for trying to help. Uninstall it. Disable UAC, then reinstall it again. Still doing the same thing. Might go back to office 2003.

Is your Windows 32-bit or 64-bit based? If it is the latter, the correct pathway could be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD.EXE"?
