Default Can't detect 5ghz Wireless Network

    Hi
I just brought the Netgear DGND3300 which is a Simultaneous Dual band router:

    http://www.netgear.com/home/products.../dgnd3300.aspx

I brought the Belkin N750 wireless adapter that can connect to 2.4/5GHZ wireless networks:

    http://www.belkin.com/uk/IWCatProduc...duct_Id=552224

The modem/router is set to transmit both signals and my wireless adapter is set to receive both signals, however my PC wont pickup the 5GHZ frequency (I can connect to 2.4GHZ).

Why cant I detect/connect to my 5GHZ network? any help is appreciated.

What version of windows is installed? And are you using windows or a program from Netgear for the wireless?

Its looking like the 5Ghz is incompatible between the 2 brands.
Perhaps get a Netgear 5Ghz wifi adapter.

Just personally, I would recommend buying any Belkin wifi gear.

Change the router and adapter to 5 ghz only see if it connects. If it doesnt there maybe a prob somewhere. See if there's a firmware update for the router.

Also why did you not get a Netgear wireless adapter to go with the Netgear router?
There may be a compatibility issue between the Netgear and the Belkin.

The router only has a couple of settings and none of them allow for 5GHZ by itself, I set the adapter to accept 5g only but it still didn't find the network. I have checked for firmware updates but it says it is up to date. In hindsight the Netgear adapter probably would have been a good idea, but surely any two devices that use the 5ghz band would be compatible? wouldnt it kinda defeat the purpose if a particular router was only compatible with adapters of the same brand?

THat's the idea with the wifi regulations however in practice it isn't always the case I've found.
Another thing you can try is turn off all security on the router and see if it is picked up then.
