Default Windows Explorer & iTunes has stopped working

    Hi,

Hopefully you can help me out.

Recently I had to do a System Restore (long story why) on my Dell 1520 Vista 32-bit OS and since then I encountered the following problems:

Windows Explorer crashing and restarting when in use
    iTunes not working

I goggled and I have tried the following:
Checked for viruses (ESET Smart Security) - none
Checked with Super Antispyware & Malewarebytes- nothing
Did all available Windows Updates - installed without problems
    Uninstalled iTunes/Quicktime / CCleaner / re-installed - still not working
Checked for programmes that could collude with Quicktime - nothing
Did SFC /scannow - no problems found

I am at wits' end. Thanks in advance for taking time in helping me out.

    Cheers.

Could be a corrupt file somewhere. What programs have you installed that add entries to the right context menu? ie: When you right mouse on a file, whats there (besides the normal windows entries)?

When you say Itunes doesnt work, it doesnt run at all? Go to the orb bottom left, type in eventvwr.msc.

Then go to windows logs, look under application for the time it crashed. Double click on the error. What does it say?

Windows Explorer always crashes when I cut/copy/paste files. When I try to open iTunes it just doesn't start and I get the Windows message "iTunes has stopped working".

    Besides the usual I have
    Gimp
    Flickr
    Eset
    Rar
    SUPERAntispayware
    Malewarebytes

I also did the last thing you suggested and I got an Error message.
"MMC has detected an error in a snap-in and will unload it"
I tried to attach the error message but the Snipping Tool has crashed the same way.

Not quite sure what to do? Cheers.

You in NZ? I could have a quick look with teamviewer if you want. I'll just have a look whats running / whats in startup and whats installed. If you get it install then run it. Then PM the ID and password to me
