Default Scan for Android (phone) viruses on PC

    Hi all

My mobile phone has Android as the OS.
I sometimes download and install stuff on it from the web, rather than through the official Android market. I download it on my PC and then copy it onto the phone for installing - mainly .apk files and such like.

I know viruses are rare for the Android so far, but they do exist.

So my question is, if there is a Android virus on any of these files, would my PC virus checker find it?
I'm guessing probably not... if not, are there any PC based viruscheckers that would pick up viruses designed for Android?

I know I could find a antivirus to run on the phone directly, but I'd rather not because of how much it would slow the phone up by. And as it's only a remote chance, I'd rather have a one time only scan direct from my PC, before the file gets moved to the phone.

    Thanks!

Thanks, but these are all apps to install on the phone directly.

I was more asking about about a viruschecker that I can install on my PC itself that would also pick up Android viruses.
Because for non-market apps, I download them on my PC first before transferring to my phone.
I'd like to scan them once on my PC only before I install on the phone, rather than running a separate antivirus on the phone all the time

Doubt full. Thats is the only thing I could find remotely connected to what you wanted.
Virus scanning apps installed on the phone is the only way I could think of to protect yourself from these threats.

Yeah basically if you were *really* worried then I'd get AVG from the Marketplace.

Still, they're very very very far and few between so unless you've been to some *really* dodgy sites, you've got nothing to worry about really.

Cheers, I'm not really *too* worried as I don't knowingly go to dodgy sites.
But it's always at the back of my mind that anything I download from outside the Android market I am essentially putting 100% trust in (although another good thing with Android is the summary of permissions it shows before installing).
Was just hoping that some PC viruscheckers might also scan these files too but I guess not.
