Welcome to PressF1. Highly recommend Orcon's + network...see if you can get it by going here and putting your phone number in.
Hi everyone
I have a headache to choose the right plan. I signed up with Slingshot back several years ago for $50 unlimited data a month. But they have been giving me like dial up speed long time ago. It is so slow that I have to sit in front of the computer to wait for a normal webpage to show up!
I know that plan was not a good one for them as they offer unlimited data. So they have been persuading me to change to a new plan offering faster speed but very limited data.
I have been checking slingshot and other providers plans but very difficult to find a right one.
I am a home user. Heavy use of internet. Live in central-west Auckland. I need about 30GB a month. I have telecom phone line now.
Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks!

Telecom have their Big Time plan, which is essentially the same as the "unlimited" plan you got off Slingshot years ago - commentary on forums so far appears to be reasonably positive, but it remains to be seen what happens to speeds once it gets more popular.

+1 for wratterus thoughts, I'm on the Purple + with Orcon and added 25GB for $25... Saves us around $25 when compared with a Telecom / Xtra equivalent + homeline.

Before you ask a question, or before you get upset by a response, see here:

Have ongoing broadband problems? Disconnecting? Slow speeds? Check out: www.fixmybroadband.co.nz!
So here are the two plans:
ORCON
Orcon ADSL2+ Broadband
$79.95/ month
15GB monthly data allowance
Additional 25GB for $25/month
Total:$104.95 / month
SLINGSHOT
Fastest/Full Speed
$59.95 per month 15GB
Additional 20GB /$25
Total:$84.95 / month
Looks Slingshopt is cheaper, even with 5gb extra $15.
Don't think that Slingshot plan is ADSL2+? Hard to tell, their website is hopeless.

if you want to keep your telecom tolls you can sign up to http://www.xnet.co.nz/hsi/ their plans don't change depending on who you have your tolls with and you only pay for what you use. e.g. I'm on a 30Gig data plan but if I use 10 Gigs I only pay for 10 gigs.
You are not comparing apples with apples as the Orcon plan is Naked DSL (meaning no additional monthly telephone line rental) whereas the Slingshot plan requires the monthly telephone line rental on top.
Therefore in the above example the Orcon plan would be $104.95/month whereas Slingshot would be $84.95 + $44.95 = $129.90/month
