I've sent her a link to this thread so she can try the things mentioned.

    Thanks for the responses.

    Re: Facebook question

Thanks. I'll pass that on. I may have mis-stated the problem slightly. The issue is not that she can't sign in, it is just that she has to use her old email address - which she no longer uses and is...

    Facebook question

I am a total Facebook avoider, so I wasn't able to help my neighbour with this one. She has changed email address and wants to use the new one to log in to her Facebook account, which currently...

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

My "normal" fast ring system is just downloading 16257.1 (rs3_release), and my "skip-ahead" system is downloading 16257.1000 (rs_prerelease). It will be interesting to see if there any discernible...

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

I've actually put one of the insider builds onto "skip ahead" and immediately got a new build - 16251.1000 (rs-prerelease). Still downloading.

So how do I find out what is happening in the...

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Hmmm... I don't think I want to be that adventurous - although with 4 insider builds I may try it with just one. I assume this is linked to the build and not the person/ms account.

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

I just looked at that presentation again and what you are referring to is much later in the process - after the machine has gone from the "initialising/preparing/downloading/installing" bit and...

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

I wonder what's happening at 77% that makes it apparently grind to a halt?

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Four installs went without a hitch apart from the now usual long delay at about 75%. The actual update after the restart seemed to go considerably quicker than it has on the past.

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Sort of OT, but is there any way to rename or otherwise edit the contents of the start all apps list? under Win7 you could change stuff around very easily, but it all seems locked down these days.

Nice improvement to ease of use. I use a PIN - and it looks like you can recover that as well.

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Last one went in this morning with no problems apart from stalling at 76%. So it looks like my restart problems may have gone away.

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Three out of four all done, one of which was one that previously wouldn't update after the initial restart. They all stuck for a looong time at 75-76%, but got there in the end. I'll try the final...

Build 16237 downloading - to my surprise. I inferred from the insider forum that there wouldn't be one for a while.

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

I just looked at the post and it says "shouldn't need to reboot unless Notepad is open". Interesting that on the old PC no restart was necessary, but on the other two installs that had problems it...

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Interesting developments. I just got an update titled "Updates for RS_Prerelease_FLT_PREV 100.16232.1004" This is on my two installs that were at 16226 and wouldn't update after the first reboot (see...

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

I am still having the problem of the update not proceeding after the initial restart - it just does a normal boot and goes to the default OS. I posted on the insider forum and got a reply that said...

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

The VM seems to be totally stuffed. The rest stuck at 88% in the preparation stage, so I cancelled it and tried to shutdown. It is now saying "Getting Windows ready do not shut down your computer" so...

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Build 16232 is on the way. It hasn't started well. It was initialising the download on the VM, the screen went black and VMWare crashed. Now Windows Update is totally screwed and won't even start....
