I have tried signing up with Amazon, but no luck. There software requires that users to enter a state (US) as part of the mailing address.

Is there a way of doing it, or is Amazon only for Americans?

Hi Vince
No, it's not just for people from the USA. I have bought from them using full NZ details. They do have international sites such as UK, Japan etc. However I seem to recall using the USA site last time. Perhaps try the UK site or send a query to the main site.

Just fill in the field using a NZ region for the value, making sure to select New Zealand from the Country form field before submitting the form. I just went through the process and it worked fine.

Hi Vince. I've used Aamazon from here for some years. Re the need for a US state... did you scroll right down to the bottom of the list? Occasionally the last item on the list says something like "Not USA". Found and used one like that recently after the address was rejected about five times.

Just bear in mind that some items that Amazon sells cannot be shipped internationally.

Yes and some times it not obvious until you get to checkout, but thats when a Canadian address comes in handy...

I have looked carefully, but cannot find a place to enter the country. See below

Perhaps I should look elsewhere for MP3 downloads, but I don't want to have to download software like itunes 55.5 MB! or anything else I won't be using.

Sorry, that URL is not the one showing at the top of the page I was referring to.

Ah, OK. I think buying MP3s from Amazon requires US citizenship so this is probably why you're having trouble there. You can buy MP3s from the NZ music website Amplifier (http://www.amplifier.co.nz) however I'm sure they'd have a very limited catalogue.

A lot of stuff you CAN buy on Amazon from NZ, but it clearly states that MP3's are for US Citizens only.

As I understand it, you can get around any restriction and buy whatever you want using This Site (http://www.shipbuktu.com/Pricing.php) to process your purchase. It costs, but if you can't get it any other way.............

Is that service still available? There's no FAQ's, and the home page mentions they're working on an alternative service to NZ since the delays at Christmas...hello that's 9 months ago! Don't know if I would trust it based on that, I'd rather just use a friend in USA to forward it on on my behalf... probably cheaper too.

I've just been through the process of getting MP3s online. I started with Amazon, but got nowhere. Then I tried this site http://www.shopnow.co.nz/ which links to a site called alloffmp3.org. You need to register and set up some credit, then each track costs US$0.15. Seems to work fine, though the navigation engine is a bit archaic and the database is huge, so it can take a while to find what you want.

Why pay for MP3 tracks when downloads with "Lime Wire" are free?

Depends if Lime Wire has any tracks you wanna download, I guess. Not everything you want in this life is free, unfortunately.

Because of all the Sh%^ that gets downloaded as well the amount of time I have spent cleaning up my sons and his mates lappies that have been infected by Slimepile is unbeleivable and yes they all run decent anti virus + anti malware and firewalls

Funny I have never had any problems. Guess that is because I scan each and every download before I attempt to open/play any file :)

Advising not to use Limewire is a much better idea regardless.

You can also download from Digirama (http://www.digirama.co.nz/), Vodafone (http://music.vodafone.co.nz/) or iTunes (although a lot of the stuff on iTunes will only play on iPods or computers, and some of the stuff on Digirama is in WMA instead of MP3).
