Crossover cable

Hi.

I've got my first laptop and want to copy some of my files from my home computer to the laptop. Home computer = P3; OS = ME. Laptop runs XP Prof.
I've bought a crossover cable.

My problem: Does it make a difference which end of the crossover cable is plugged into the computer or laptop?

Any suggestions to help this novice?

The end with the plastic plug and the clip on it is the end that plugs into your computer the other plug goes into the Laptop :D :D :D (sorry couldn't resist)

you only have a problem if you have a computer that runs win 95. as u have ME 2 XP you won't have a prob. 1 piece of advice though, use xp's network setup wizard. te wizard also lets u them use each others CD/DVD drives.

Thanks Login. I know it sounds stupid, but both the plastic clips looks the same except that the colours of the wires are not distrubuted the same way.
