I've only used Flash Gel and dap. I found Dap to be envasive and dumped it. Flash Gel fits all my needs.

Flash Get also works on XP :)

thank god. someone else who uses flash get. This is the best download manager bar none, on my opinion. I have been using it for 2 years. I have tried DAP and getright. Get right just didn't click with me. It didnt flow like flashget does. Flashget is so accessible and easy to setup. It only has a little banner ad that is only there sometimes. You can vary the download speed, split the file pause and resume. Set time to start, stop turn on turn off PC. The newer version is on my PC now after a format a few weeks ago. But flashget has always been reliable, a little unknown gem IMO.

Well I'll come in here and pimp FlashGet (http://www.flashget.com) as well.

Perhaps. Pulled in Flashget, installed Opera Plugin, elimated ads, and must now look for a BIG DL to try it out ....

I highly recommend FreshDownload. It ustillises 5 channels, has no spyware, and integrates easily with all browsers.
In most instances of selecting a downloadable file it steps in and asks to download it.
The only thing is I might be getting excessive spam. I do recieve upgrade emails - often - but not sure wheather they sold my email addy to spammers (likely).
I have been using Star Downloader for a considerable time.
Easy to configure, with multiple channels, etc.
Will do all I need.

Why use any? None of them accelerate anything. If you start getting dropped change your ISP. Jack

Not true - they are designed mainly for slower remote connections... or for those on DSL.
They make a HUGE difference.
When downloading Lycoris, I got it downloaded on a DSL connection in 25 minutes, as opposed to IE's projected 3 hours!
Thats a HUGE difference mate!
I use DAP, but it doesnt integrate with Phoenix - Which of the aforementioned have PF1'ers tried and can reccommend for working with Phoenix?

i took my PC to work and used a 10Mbps connection [snigger].. ]:)
with DAPs 7 connections i was download an average of 7Mbps off a NZ site
it was pure evil
you don't even notice your chewing bandwidth
ps don't tell da boss ;\

download managers are mostly designed for the usa. If you do get a download manager you will most likely have less download speed. The one to get is the type that you can only pause and resume.

digging up old posts ;)
>download managers are mostly designed for the usa
but if your downloading from a site in NZ you'll get good speed "probably your max"

. The one to get is the type

I tried several of the ones mentioned earlier, but went back to the built-in Opera one which does as above.
