No, your advice was:

>Go for Vodafone should you ever get the choice

Chilling_Silence

Aahh... Yes, for txting from the web...

As for that, I figure it will be cheaper for me to use a plan, with only 1c texting off peak.
Others might not though!

I am with Vodafone, Probably going to 027, however, this has nothing to do with txting from the web without already owning an 027!

Word of warning: stay away from sms.ac which says it offers free texting (to a certain extent), but also sends you lots of spam via SMS.

All threads from the old forum are in the PressF1 category unless a moderator moves them.

Shift this thread or watch this board disintegrate the same way the previous forum did.

It is not difficult to move any recordsets or update selected fields in selected recordsets so this situation never occurs.

Shift this thread or watch this board disintegrate the same way the previous forum did. That's a bit dramatic, so someone bumped a thread, who cares.

It is not difficult to move any recordsets or update selected fields in selected recordsets so this situation never occurs.Nothing automated would be able to go through and make a value judgement as to which of the old threads should be in chat or pressf1.

http://www.sms.ac/

A friend sent me an invite (like a Gmail invite). I'm having trouble getting my phone activated, the activation txt isn't turning up. I've sent an email so will let you know the result.

One problem is, they have Telecom as the carrier they use in NZ, but for their SMS short code number they list Vodaphone. If you want to try it on 021 I'll send you an invite.

If you want to try it on 021 I'll send you an invite. They don't support Telecom, and if you are on Vodafone they send you text spam which you are charged around $0.50 - $1.00 to receive, generally in the order of one or more per day.

Avoid like the plague.

Edit: And an invite isn't necessary, anyone can go to the site and join up, but prepare to pay.

Ta for that guys.

Must've been typing my post while you previous one was hitting the board. I don't normally touch that sort of thing with a barge poll, thought my tech savvy mate would know. Just goes to show, never drop your guard.

The news about sms.ac should really have been spread a long time ago. There was an article about a guy who copped a large bill from Vodafone after signing up to SMS.ac.

I looked at it a couple of years ago and decided it wasn't worth it. I didn't know they charged you to receive spam messages then.

However, I am now quite irate at my idiotic friends who obliviously signed up to SMS.ac and then sent me multiple invitations. I haven't bothered to tell them they shouldn't use it. :)

http://www.sms.ac/.

Agreed - avoid www.sms.ac "Like the plague."

I tried joining on that site last year and it never worked - nothing happened at all. Then after reading here on PF1 that it is bogus, I informed Vodafone - they were very interested and asked for details so I sent the the link to our PF1 thread. Vodafone were thankful and said they would take steps to counter whatever problems www.sms.ac may cause.

If you signed up for it with an 027 phone it won't work. That's been covered in this thread already.

If you signed up for it with Vodafone. You will get spam. You will get charged for it. It's just a matter of time.

Right... And what was the point of bringing up this old thread? Judging by the way you spell you do sound like your NOT from NZ.

There are places on the net to go to for say penpals and friends. This web forum is probably NOT the appropriate place for it.

Hi, I'm a Chimp who likes single malt scotch, Benson and Hedges, the movies of Kurosawa, collects the published worls of Hugh Hefner and loves to have his fur groomed. I live in a well-furbished cage and am semi-house trained. I'm interested in meeting a female chimp to share common interests, with a view to making like the animals at the zoo, if you get my drift.

Only serious applicants please.

Not sure if this helps, but I use a site called Text For Free http://textforfree.net which offers free text messaging to various service providers.

I hope that helps, if not, I'm sorry :(

Hey, what does "big love 3 ways" mean exactly?

I've never heard the saying before. There's no real free web2txt running to my knowledge.
