View Full Version : Spool 32 errors

Since installing the McAfee virus scanner multi-user pack on our office system, all the PCs are getting Spool 32 errors when sending to print. The PC then needs to be re-booted each time. Each PC has a different laser printer attached so I cannot blame a certain make of printer.
It does not happen every time but enough to cause great frustration in the office (e.g. on one PC it happens on average 5-12 times per day)
Any help would be appreciated.

a Guess: the virus detector is objecting to an attempt to write a spool file in a directory to which the user does not have write access rights. Are they networked, does each write only to its own printer, what operating system, is it set up with passworded user profiles? etc.
You might need a shared spool directory set up, that anyone can write to. But this a guess. Without information, guesses are all you will get..

Thanks for your comments Graham. Although the PCs are networked for the use of two applications (our Trust Ledger and Legal Forms) the printers are not. They are connected to each PC through the LPT1 connection. One PC uses Windows 98 and the others use Windows 95 and all use Office 97 (not a networked version)and the errors occur when printing both from Word or from the networked applications.
