Hi, planning on a ski trip. When I went by myself, just went to Club Habitat backpacker rooms.

Now, going with 2 people (together). Don't want backpacker, any recommendations? I've seen Creel for about $120/night which is a 4 star Quarlmark. Just don't want a crap one, when we were in Auckland, Mt Roskill Motor Lodge was bad :annoyed: toilet wouldn't flush, the handle off the bathroom cabinet fell off, v hot in December, was not provided with a fan or aircon. But it was one of the cheapest off the "MANZ" website.

Judges and Sportsman Lodge are not Quarlmark and happens to be around $100/night.

There are some places with small sheds - walk outside for the bathroom but rather not want those :p National Park from what I seen is a bit more pricey in the middle of nowhere.

Many thanks.

OK three that should still be OK.
Bridge Lodge, Tongariro Lodge or Tokannu Hotel.

thanks for the suggestions

Tongariro Lodge looks nice bit outside my price, the dining menu looks more than enough :p

Parkland Motel, has good tucker as wellDid you mean Parkland Motor Lodge? Parkland Motel is in Wellington.

TripAdvisor review on Parkland Motor Lodge (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g656923-d289727-Reviews-Parklands_Motor_Lodge-Turangi_North_Island.html)

Looks like $110 for a studio and $140 for a 1-bedroom unit.

I went to a ski trip after my Napier pharmacy interview.

Stayed over at Skotel (http://www.skotel.com/)

We stayed at Oasis Motel (http://www.oasismotel.co.nz/) last weekend when we went down. Just in the cabins, $25 a person isn't bad. They have spas and a hot pool that is very nice after a day up the mountain. They have a range of different room styles.

Very friendly, highly recommended.

Yeah they a $120 for a 1 double sized bed motel or $180 (~) with a extra single, I need twin bedding. Skotel is nice and close but not much there, not even a supermarket. Even their backpacker twin rooms are $95. 2 nights min stay.

I stayed at National Park Backpackers in a own room once but found Turangi better with the amenities, esp the New World supermarket.

Thanks to all :)

Have stayed at and enjoyed the Creel lodge. Nice cabins set amongst trees. Not much of a walk to Turangi itself. Mini golf is fun (SWMBO won by one... after I'd given her shots on the first 9)

It's right by the river if you fish (I don't, but the father out-law does). Swimming is for the brave only as it's mostly fairly fast moving meltwater. Exciting though.
