I need some information. some new zealander on the goodies forums claims that the goodies was not well known before it showed on comedy central last year.

my parents remember it back in the 70's.

I Need to know some facts:

When did it first come on nz tv?

Was it Transmitted in Black & White or Colour?

Do You Remember it?

-----

if you need some video clips:

The Goodies 1970 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-w8OKo4phg)

The Goodies 1975 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raHNSIWOG4k)

I remember them well on TV in 1973 (I think) - black and white - and I'm sure Bill Oddie (The tubby one?) came to a NZ Telethon (1977 I think). Remember seeing him playing the drums at the telethon, and was screened on TV.

One hilarious show I recall of the Goodies was their year's supply of...Goodies, that instantly changed in the one room. Open the door - a year's food - close the door - reopen - a years supply of clothing...and so on...

The episode you are quoting is The Very First Episode! called Tower of London where somebody is trying to starve beefeaters. that episode first went to air in the uk on Novemember 7, 1970. so it looks like New Zealand got it 3 years late.

Tim Brooke-Taylor was the upperclass one with wearing the blue suit, Graeme Garden was the scientist with the black rimmed glasses and side burns, and Bill Oddie was the chubby (not on all episodes) one with the long hair and beard.

and here is that scene you quoted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFPvZbJTz5U

Because we didn't know that back then, especially as we were only small and hadn't developed the awesome taste in programs that we have now.

I remember them well. Even went to a couple of parties with Bill Oddie and Tim Brooke-Taylor.

Cambridge Circus came to NZ in 1964, and Bill Oddie, John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Jo Kendall, T B-T, and Jonathan Lynn were in the cast. We invited them all to a couple of parties, and enjoyed a couple of drunken experiences as a result. Went outside the first party to find John Cleese and one of my friends trying to catch ducks in the Avon River - so drunk the ducks were in little danger.

I don't know whether The Goodies was first broadcast in colour, because we had an 11 inch black and white TV set at the time...

In the words of Victor Meldrew "I don't believe it!"

In a case of Pot calling Kettle

"And when The Sun, in February 1981, criticised his show in an editorial as “intent on appealing only to the dirty-raincoat brigade ... a show that looks like a naughty underwear catalogue snapped through a hole in the floor“ Hill offered only a small but tart observation: “Is it The Sun that has the page three girls?”"

My wife and I were wandering off through Kensington on a trip to Pongolia when we noticed a house with one of those blue plaques with which the Poms mark historic sites. This one said "Benny Hill lived here" or summat similar.

Judging by the house, he made a bob or two out of titillating the unwary public.
